(English) The Great designer Azzedine Alaia is going to create the outfits of Ballet Preljocaj for the new spectacle “One thousand and one nights” (Les Mille et une nuits). I heard that this week from Angelin Preljocaj it self who also said that the famous designer were at Pavillon Noir this week to meet the dancers. We have to wait until April 2013 to see this spectacle. For those who don’t know the work of this designer, I’m posting here some photos of his work and a video of the famous film “Clueless” where the protagonist is trying to save her dress from a thief and said “You don’t understand… this is an Alaia”

(Spanish) El gran diseñador Azzedine Alaia creará el vestuario para el espectáculo de ballet “La mil y una noche” (Les Mille et une nuits) del Ballet Preljocaj.  Esta información la escuché del mismísimo Angelin Preljocaj esta semana, quien dijo que el famoso diseñador estuvo visitando las instalaciones de Pavillon Noir para poder encontrar a los bailarines y poderse inspirar. Este espectáculo se estrenará en abril de 2013 como parte de EuroMediterranee. Para los que no están tan familiarizados con el trabajo de Alaia acá les dejo algunas fotos de él y sus propuestas, y el video de la famosísima película “Clueless” en donde la protagonista defiende su vestido de un ladron y dice “Usted no entiende…. Este es un Alaia”

French Christmas tradition / Tradiciones Francesas de Navidad

(English) Advent calendar:

Now that we are in December so close to Christmas, I wanted to share to you one of the French Christmas traditions, and that is the “Advent Calendar”. I know some other countries use this tradition but in my case I discover it here in France. This Calendar is a box with 24 windows, each window has a chocolate and you open one by one each day until Christmas.  The gift can be a chocolate, a candy, a little gift. The box can be also be 24 boxes, cans, jars (like the jars of jam) etc. The origin of this tradition is German and related to Christians religions (that’s why it is called “advent”) but now is a popular tradition as the same as the chocolates eggs from Easter for example. Here are some examples of different Advent Calendar.

(Spanish) Calendario de Adviento:

Ahora que estamos en diciembre iniciando la temporada navideña, quería compartirles una de las tradiciones más francesas de Navidad y es la del calendario de Adviento. Sé que en algunos países conocen esta tradición pero en mi caso la descubrí acá en Francia, así que aprovecho para explicárselas y mostrarles algunos ejemplos. Este calendario consiste en una caja de chocolates con 24 compartimientos las cuales permiten cada día abrir un compartimiento y comerse un chocolate y así sucesivamente hasta llegar a la Navidad. Existen muchas versiones de este calendario, pueden ser chocolates, dulces, regalitos, etc. Incluso la caja puede ser en lugar de la caja, 24 cajitas, o 24 botes pequeños, etc. El origen de esta tradición es Alemana, relacionada a las fiestas cristianas (por eso el nombre de Adviento), pero en nuestros días en Francia se ha convertido en una tradición popular, muy popular, casi todos los niños franceses tienen su calendario.   Acá les dejo varios ejemplos.

Trend Alert! Fur Bag, Pelt Bag / Bolso de Pelaje

(English) Hi everybody! I wanted to share one of the strongest trend of this winter here in France and that is the Fur or Pelt Bag. I’m sharing some examples from the winter collection of Chanel, Dior, Longchamps, Louis Vuitton and Nina Ricci, Dolce and Gabbana. Personally I love it! It reminds me of my pet, my little black kitty “Tato” :)
